Step #1: Buy a phone from Sparrow or bring your own.

BYOD and activate your phone with Sparrow


All you need is a Sparrow SIM + compatible phone

Reusing is great for the environment and great your pocketbook. Plus, when you switch your existing phone to Sparrow service, you help someone in need get connected through Sparrow’s giving program.
If your current phone is unlocked and compatible with Sparrow’s network, all you need is a Sparrow SIM to activate your phone with Sparrow. You can also buy Sparrow-compatible devices directly from the manufacturer (like Apple) or electronic stores (like Best Buy). If you go this route, be sure the phone is unlocked and choose “no SIM.”

You will need to know your phone make, model and IMEI.
An IMEI is a 15-digit, unique number used to identify your specific phone. There are several ways to locate a phone’s IMEI:
  1. Dial “*#06#” (supported by most phones)
  2. In your device Settings, under General > About
  3. On the box your phone came in or on the back of the phone itself
